Steven Dan Battaglia, 54. After a long and courageous battle with cancer; on Tuesday, February 28th, Steven was freed from his suffering and taken by our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. He is preceded in death by his father Joseph B. Battaglia Sr. and brother Joseph B. Battaglia Jr. He is survived by his mother Ina May Piediscalzy Battaglia, son Anthony J Battaglia (Michele,) brother Harold F Battaglia Sr. (Dianne,) sister Gayle B. Calato (Louis,) brother Bryan B. Battaglia (Lisa,) loving companion Sydney DiMatteo, grandchild Abigail, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Steve is a veteran of the United States Navy having served on the USS Constellation. He later became a well liked and known prominent figure in the local automotive industry. Steve will be remembered for his lifelong love of family, friends, children, animals, traveling, cooking, and generosity to others. Steve's family would like to extended thanks and gratitude to the entire staffs of the New Orleans VA and Ochsner Hospital for his medical treatment and support. Visitation will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, La 4:00pm – 7:00pm Sunday, March 4th with a Funeral Service included from 6:15pm till 7:00pm. Burial services with military honors will be held at the Port Hudson Veterans National Cemetery in Zachary, La. at 9am Monday, March 5, 2012. In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society or the SPCA. Please visit and sign the family guestbook at www.lakelawnmetairie.com.
