He was born March 25, 1951 in Topeka, Kansas the son of Clyde Eugene and Donna (Kahle) Butts.
On January 8, 1983, Steven was united in marriage to Karen Coulter in Ottawa, Kansas.
Steven worked at Ottawa Truck for 55 years as a painter, retiring in June 2024.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, and riding his motorcycle. He also played in a band, the Side Kicks.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Butts; mother-in-law, Letha Colter; and a dear cousin, David Richardson.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Butts of the home; four sons, Eric Vogeler of Melvern, KS, Ronald Hartpence of Oswego, KS, Shawn Butts of Ottawa, KS, and Kelly Butts of Ottawa, KS; a brother, Allen Butts of Melvern, KS; a sister, Betty Lanigan of Myrtle Beach, SC; his mother, Donna Butts of Ottawa, KS; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory St, Ottawa, KS 66067. Memorial contributions may be made to the Steven Butts Memorial Fund and sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa, KS 66067. Condolences may be sent to the family through www.lamb-roberts.com.
