Steven Cheuvront Obituary
JELLOWAY- Steven James Cheuvront, 53 of Jelloway, left this world too soon on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born Oct. 16, 1970 in Mt. Vernon to the late James "Jim" and Thelma "TJ" (Ling) Cheuvront. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Krista Jean; his grandparents Dempsie & Woneta (Dunn) Cheuvront and Eugene & Dorothy (Fortune) Ling; aunts and uncles Brenda (Chuck) Kasner, June (Carter) Looney, and Jeff Ling.
Steven is survived by his siblings, Laura (Terry) Cheuvront, Daniel (Jonda) Cheuvront, and Renee (Keith) Ream; aunts and uncles, Marilyn (Ernie) Eagle, Diane (Kenny) Ling, Loretta (John) Leaver, Martha Ling, Tim (Linda) Ling, Rachel (Daryl) Gray, David (Regina) Cheuvront, and Diane (Sonny) Saunders; his nieces and nephews Alexandra, Dempsie, Wesley, Levi, Melissa, Danielle, and Carly; three great nieces, three great nephews, many cousins, and friends, including his best friend, Jason Abel & family.
Steven was a 1990 graduate of Logan Elm High School and then immediately went to proudly serve our country in the Navy. He served on the USS Shenandoah during his 10 years of active duty. He continued to serve in the Navy Reserves for years after his active duty. He purchased his mother's childhood home in Jelloway, which was built by his grandpa, where he lived for the remainder of his adult life. Steve worked at Lowe's in Mt. Vernon for over 17 years. He was an avid reader; more times than not you would find him with a book in his hand. He enjoyed being outdoors, including camping, fishing, kayaking, and riding his 4-wheeler. When the weather did not permit Stevie to be outside, he passed the time by playing video games, playing chess, watching movies, and of course reading. He was a collector of comic culture memorabilia, especially all things Star Wars. Steve's Navy career carried into his everyday life, he was an earlier riser, he was very particular about his items, and he firmly believed if he was on time he was late. One thing that brought him delight every year was hosting his annual Easter egg hunt, where all were welcome, and he shared in the joy of younger generations coming back to the family homestead. Stevie loved animals, especially his cats and his dog.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at OSU Wexner Medical Center for the care and support they provided during his last days.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2024 at Fischer Funeral Home in Danville, with Rev. Ray Adams officiating.
