Steven R. Clark, 64, of Lake, MI and formerly of Battle Creek and Hastings passed away November 5, 2025. Steven was born April 7, 1961 in Hastings to Virginia and Gary Clark. He grew up in the Hastings/Battle Creek area and graduated from high school.
Steven was a long-haul trucker. His main route was to the state of Washington and back, a route in which he made many, many times. When he wasn’t trucking, Steven loved spending time in the woods, especially during hunting season. He enjoyed building blinds at his property Up North, called the “Coyote Den.” It was a hunting retreat for family and close friends. The “5 Amigos” spent a lot of time there together. Steven, along with his wife, Laurie, would often fix things around the property and bring in wood for the next winter.
Steven married the former Laurie Bradshaw on September 30, 2016, who survives. He is also survived by his mother, Virginia “Ginny” Blain, two brothers, Mike Clark and Larry (Brenda) Clark; a sister, Brenda (Brian) Hoadley; a stepdaughter, Debra (Nathan) Wemple; three grandsons; many nieces and nephews and close friends, Rick “brother from another mother” Lampman, Dan Dodge and Roger “Bubba” VanWormer. Steven was very close with his pets, Duke, Bella and Curly.
Steven was preceded in death by his father, Gary Clark, stepfather, Roger Blain and his grandparents.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 13, 2025 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, where funeral services to celebrate Steven’s life will be Friday, November 14th at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow at Andrus Street Church of God. Steven will be laid to rest at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 15th at Riverside Cemetery, Hastings. Those wishing to make memorial contributions may donate to a charity of choice.
