Steven W. Coates, passed away at home on January 6, 2025, at the age of 65. Steve courageously fought multiple types of cancer over the last 20 years.
He was born on November 4, 1959, in Chicago to Edward & Marianne Coates. He spent his formative years in the Chicago area and attended Argo Community High School. He would go on to become a truck driver, covering close to 3 million miles of safe driving throughout his career. After many years on the road, Steve sought a position that would allow him to return home more frequently and took a job with Troyer Foods, where he ultimately retired. On the side Steve also had his own painting business, Coates Painting.
Steve was known for his good sense of humor, bringing laughter and life to both social gatherings and family moments. He had a unique ability to engage with others, earning him the reputation of being the life of the party, while also cherishing quiet moments at home. His love for his family was profound, and he took great pride in his children.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Coates, of Leesburg, Indiana; his daughter, Nicole Coates of Bolingbrook, Illinois and his son, Edward Coates of Yorkville, Illinois. Steve also leaves behind his siblings: Brandon Coates of Dalhart, Texas, and Vanessa Sandoval of Lubbock, Texas.
