Steven Paul Conlee, 70, passed away at 11:16 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at OSF St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton, Illinois.

He was born on November 17, 1954, in Jacksonville, IL, the son of Paul E. and Doris "Naydine" (Monroe) Conlee.

Known as S. Paul, he worked as a registered nurse and served as a traveling nurse in Alton, IL; Texas; and Michigan. He had a deep and abiding faith in Christ and was well known in the community for his patriotic service portraying "Uncle Sam" in numerous parades over the years, serving in the Army National Guard as well as an Election Judge.

He is survived by his parents, Paul (Rosa) Conlee of Fosterburg, IL, a son, Christopher (Jennifer) Conlee of St. Louis, MO; four grandchildren, Jeremy, Chris, Alyssa, and Aleah Conlee.; his siblings, Reginald L. (Kathy) Conlee of Brighton, IL, Doug (Joy) Conlee of Bunker Hill, IL, Sandy (Ken) Varel of Bartelso, IL, Brenda Tindall of Wood River, IL, Jim Ehlers of Alton, IL, and Donnie Ehlers of Littlefield, TX; a sister-in-law, Jane (Dave) Badgley of Alton, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris "Naydine" Conlee, his brother, Michael Conlee, and grandparents.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Burial will follow at Fosterburg Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Rise Recovery or Alcoholics Anonymous District 18.
