Steven Richard Curtis walked through Heaven's gate on June 27, 2024 standing straight and steady with a smile on his face. He left this Earth behind peacefully at his home surrounded by his family including our dog Bella and our cat Chloe. He was 77 years old.
Steve is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his wife of 56 years Caprice Curtis; son Jason Curtis and wife Eva; daughter Kirsten Wilkins and husband Glenn; grandson Tyler Curtis, wife Jade and their sons Tate, Tucker and Theo; grandsons Christopher Curtis and Brayden Wilkins; grand daughter Hanna Wilkins; step-grand daughter Jennifer Reynolds, husband Seth and their children Bridger, Leif and Lottie; dearest friends Terry and Sarah Lockwood, Ed and Gale Banda; and many other family and friends.
Steve has been looking forward to reuniting in Heaven with his son Jonathan Curtis; parents Victor and Irene Curtis; sister Victoria Angstman; his nephew Greg Angstman; in-laws Churchill and Alma Campbell; Godson Nicholas T. Lockwood; Uncle Helmuth and Aunt Dorothy Heckenlaible; cousin Joan Haines; brother-in-law Bruce Campbell; step-grandson Sgt. Ward Mark Johnson; dear friend Ron Reek; and many beloved fur family members.
Steve had a very full life lived well. Steve is a Vietnam veteran who served honorably for four years in the US Navy, much of that time on board the USS Wahoo SS-565. He owned a fuel oil delivery, on-the-farm tractor tire and vehicle full service and tire center and gas station known as Curtis Oil/ Curtis Tire and Exhaust located in his hometown Cambridge,MN for 26 years. Steve and Caprice moved to the Goose Creek/ Summerville SC area in 1994 to be near their son Jason and grandson Tyler. Steve's favorite quote was "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy cow, what a ride!"
Honoring Steve's wishes, there will not be a funeral at this time. A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
Our family would like to thank Karen Holland and Mary Henderson, his caregivers these past few months. A very special thank you to nurse Missi Crank and caregiver Tameka Gadson from Intrepid Hospice. These ladies are angels here on Earth.
Steve will always be remembered for his laughter and his kindness.
if you wish to honor Steve's memory, please make a donation to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research in his name at give.michaeljfox.org.

Dear Caprice, family and friends of Steve,
On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans, we offer our sincere condolences at Steve´s passing. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We are always saddened whenever a fellow "Bubblehead" departs on Eternal Patrol. He served with honor on the USS Wahoo SS-565.
To our "Brother-of-the-Phin" we say, "Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. Fair Winds and Following Seas." Thank you for your service to our country.
Caprice and family... "may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you." 2 Thessalonians 3:16 (ESV).

National Chaplain, USSVI.

Working at S&ME and our late night breaks at Dennys while working at Boeing. He was always a joy to be around and would give the shirt off his back to anyone. Rest easy my friend.
