Steven Ditta Obituary

He was 90 years old.
Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, Steve was christened "Stefano" by his parents Salvatore and Caterina Fonte Ditta. The Ditta household was a large and loving family. Steve lived in West Orange and Harrison, New Jersey before coming to New Hope over 30 years ago. Steve had a 35 year career in management with the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company in Newark. As a young man he served in the US Army.
Upon retirement Steve moved to New Hope. He was active in the community. He was an dedicated member at St. Philip's Episcopal Church in New Hope where he volunteered at the church's monthly "Peacemeal" in support of people whose lives are affected by HIV and Aids, their friends and allies. At home he was a gracious host. He loved to cook and bake. His choice of music was the operas of Verdi and Puccini.
Steve was the son of the late Salvatore and Caterina Fonte Ditta and the brother of the late Nicholas Ditta, Beatrice Schiavino, Joseph Ditta, Mary Ditta and Mae Melo. He is survived by his many nieces and nephews and their families and a wide circle of friends, especially his dear friend and care giver Geovanny Mendez.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 8,2025 at 11 am at St. Philip's Church, 10 Chapel Road, New Hope, Pennsylvania 18938.
There will be calling hours at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530 on Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm.
Donations in Steve's memory may be made to St. Philip's Church, 10 Chapel Road, New Hope, PA 18938.
