Steven James Dupuis, age 58, of St. Johns, passed away on April 13, 2024 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Steven was born December 16, 1965, to Russell and Carolyn Dupuis in Jennings, Louisianna. He graduated from Jennings High School in 1984 and moved to Orlando, Florida where he met his first wife, Cindy and they had their daughter, Heather. Shortly after her birth they moved to St. Johns, Michigan where Steven made his home to remain present in his daughter's life. On July 21, 2001, he married Lori Slamka together they had 2 children, Kaitlyn and Anthony Dupuis.
Steven worked for Beck's Propane for many years in the late 80's to 2000 where he made many friends thru his work and socializing at Beck's Farm Market. He then worked for Martin Brower as a driver and made lasting friendships until the date of his death. Steven loved golfing, camping, gambling, playing cards and was a master griller, smoker, and all-around fabulous cook! He loved to cook his southern dishes and favorite Cajun cuisines to share with all. But mostly he loved people. He could be found making the rounds to talk to everyone wherever he went. He never missed a sporting event and could be heard by all in the stands. He was a dedicated husband, father, and papa. He was so proud to teach his granddaughters, Carly, and Tessa to swim and each summer looked forward to spending time with them in his pool. We will miss his sense of humor, bluntness, lack of filter and sarcasm. A "grown ass man", with the best smile and dimples!
Steven is survived by his wife, Lori Dupuis; children, Heather (Trevor) Hunt, Kaitlyn Dupuis and Anthony Dupuis; grandchildren, Carly Hunt (who proudly shared her papa's birthday) and Tessa Hunt; his father, Russell (Monika) Dupuis of Jennings, LA; his siblings, Stacey Custer of Elk City, OK, Samantha (Brent) Leger of Kingwood, TX, Michelle (Barry) LaFosse of Lake Charles, LA and Christa (Allen) Fell of Cumming, GA. Siblings-in-law, Chris Slamka, Gary (Bernadette) Slamka, Kurt (Laurie) Slamka and Eric (Shannon) Slamka, all of St. Johns, MI. His aunts Linda (Dan) Breaux of Lake Charles, LA and Marilyn (Ronnie) Stewart-Lemaire of Jennings, LA and many nieces and nephews. His best friends Mark and Robin Ingalls of St. Johns, MI. He is preceded in death by his mother Carolyn Dupuis, in-laws Tony and Ann Marie Slamka, aunt Paula Dyke and nephew Aaron Custer.
A visitation will be Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 2:00pm – 8:00pm, Rosary at 7:00pm with a funeral service on Monday, April 22, 2024, at 11:00am, at McGeehan Funeral Home, Keck-Coleman Chapel. Please feel free to dress like Steve and wear your favorite golf shirt and khaki shorts.

The hot days of summer in our younger days in the neighborhood will always be a special memory. Wish I would have not put off seeing you last time you came ole friend. Fly high and God speed. You will be missed.
