Steven Michael Ebert, fondly known as Steve by his loved ones, was a beacon of joy and companionship to all who knew him. Born on March 22, 1958, in Dayton, Ohio, Steve's infectious charisma and vibrant spirit touched countless lives until he passed away at the age of 66, on October 24, 2024, in Columbus, Indiana.
After graduating from Columbus North High School in 1976, Steve answered the call of duty by serving in the Army from 1981 to 1985, exhibiting the same dedication and spiritedness that would later define his civilian life. Upon his return, Steve's heart found its compass in Virginia Goldsmith, his beloved life partner. They united in marriage on September 26, 1987, and from their loving commitment flourished a family foundation that would stand resilient through the highs and lows of life.
Steve's world was adorned with the love of his family. He is survived by his adoring wife, Virginia; his daughter, Stephanie (Paul) Cady; daughter-in-law, Janine Ebert; his brother, David (Julie) Ebert; grandchildren Colin, Emma, Carmen, Jenny, and Michael, who brightened his world; sisters-in-law, Cindy Poland and Rosmary (Don) Wade; and brothers-in-law, Howard (Natalie) Goldsmith and Michael Ellison, along with several nieces and nephews who will miss his warmth and guidance.
His parents, Frank J. and Clara Ebert; his son, Justin Michael Ebert; daughter, Debra Ebert; brother, Frank Ebert III; and sister, Ann Howard, preceded him in death, and now welcome him into eternal peace.
Steve's zest for life was evident through his hobbies. He found tranquility in building models and unparalleled joy in spending time with family and friends. He especially treasured playing and laughing with his grandchildren, who will forever remember his love and playful spirit. Steve's capacity for friendship knew no bounds; he never encountered a stranger.
He will be remembered for his friendliness, a loving presence, and a source of laughter and love.
