Steven Allen Eckwright, aged 67, passed away peacefully on February 20 with his loved ones by his side. He was a loving husband, father, brother, papa and friend. He was born in Eau Claire on July 21, 1957, to Robert and Deanna (Drews) Eckwright. He married Wendy Eckwright on September 7, 1989. He worked at Walmart DC for over 25 years. Steve supported his community through the Eleva-Strum Lions Club doing music in the park and many other activities. He was an avid Wisconsin sports fan from the Packers, Brewers, Badgers, Bucks and going to his grandchildren's sporting events. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. Steve loved traveling with his beloved wife going to thrift sales and antiquing from state to state.
Steve is survived by his five children, Amy (Jimmy) Mikolon of Cameron, Steven (Jodi) Eckwright of Foster, Peggy (Rob) Gibson of Eau Claire, Brandi (Mike) Wolf of Strum, Sara Eckwright of Eleva; his grandchildren Zoe, Hailey, Kyra, Cassell, Cody, Kayla, Bret, Colt, Mikael, Kade, and Quilla; siblings, Mary Eckwright of Eau Claire, Terry (Deb) Eckwright of Rock Falls, Merlin Yarrington of MS, Cindy (Joe) LaLonde of Milwaukee, Jeff (Kathy) Eckwright of Augusta, Lori Eckwright of Strum, David Eckwright of Strum, Chris (Brent) Cagle of Rock Falls; in-laws, Cheryl Dancause of NH, Robin (Mark) Crossley of RI, Tracy (Lionel) Motta of RI, Al (Deb) Brantner of Eleva, Teri (Dorn) Knudtson of Eleva, Bruce (Flo) Brantner of Eleva, Mike (Karrie) Brantner of Strum, Rodger (Sue) Brantner of Eleva; long-time best friend, Deb Brain of Strum; and many other family and friends.
Steve is preceded in death by the love of his life, Wendy Eckwright; parents, Robert and Deanna Eckwright; brother, Robert Eckwright Jr.; sister, Theresa Yarrington; grandparents, Walter and Marcella (Meiers) Drews; grandparents, Harry and Marie Eckwright; in-laws, James and Bernice Wik, Barbara (Bramble) Wik; brother in-law, James Wik Jr.
A memorial gathering and service will be at Eleva Lutheran Church on Monday March 3 at 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at East Bennett Valley Cemetery.
