Steven Egener Obituary Steven Leslie Egener, 81, of LaPorte, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at his residence. He was born on May 24, 1942, in Griffith, Indiana, to William and Eileen (Cartwright) Egener. On June 27, 1965 he married Ellen Clayton. Steven worked as a line mechanic at American National Can for most of his years before retiring. He also served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was also a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and enjoyed singing. Steven is survived by his 4 children Dwayne Egener of LaPorte, Mark Egener of LaPorte, Shawna Diakis of LaPorte, and Clayton Egener of Michigan City. He is also survived by 1 sister and 2 brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, David. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Crossroads Baptist Church, 10027 W. 1000 S. Wanatah, from 5:00 PM 8:00 PM., and from 10:00 AM 11:00 AM on Wednesday the 23rd. A Celebration of Life will take place at the church at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August, 23, 2023.
