Steven Ewing Obituary

Steve took over in 1977, for the house DJ at Mac's Bar who took the night off to see Elvis. From that moment on Steve was known to bring in huge crowds from all over, filling the dance floor, the parking lot and beyond. Steve was known to introduce all kinds of music, some of which the public didn't know but grew to become crowd favorites. Steve worked as the shipping coordinator at Richland Center Foundry, Lost Hollow Pottery, and Lands' End. He was a lifelong adventurer who loved to hike both locally and had summited the Grand Tetons several times, each time with his lifelong friend Jim Seymour. Steve was very knowledgeable about the plants of the world and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others. He enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting. He was a passionate, talented artist, who enjoyed photography, drawing, all art, and was known for his tree fungi etchings, which were featured in publications, and were purchased by many people all over the world. Steve and his brother Randi were instrumental in creating and pioneering the disc golf course in the Richland Center Parks. Steve gained fulfillment in his life by sharing his passions with others and his enthusiasm was infectious. He was most fulfilled in life by his wife Maryann and his sons Ian and Evan.
Steve is survived by the love of his life, wife Maryann Ewing of Richland Center,
two sons: Ian (Cora Lee) Ewing of Verona,
Evan (Linda) Ewing of Fullerton, CA;
brothers and sisters: Kimberlee (Tina Schuster) Dobbs of Benton,
Ronald G. (Denise) Ewing of Richland Center,
Randal J. Ewing of Richland Center,
Jeneen 'Pappy' (Jeff) Bennett of Ithaca,
Danielle (John) Amato of Surprise, AZ;
father-in-law: Daniel Richgels of Richland Center;
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Robert (Bonnie Hines) Richgels of LaCrosse,
Donald (Mary) Richgels of Waupaca,
David (Emily) Richgels of Cincinnati, OH,
Julie (Chris) Pramas of Verona;
many close lifelong friends, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Rita Richgels, and brother-in-law Jade McCall.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at the St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022, at the Pratt Memorial Chapel from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Saturday, December 31, 2022, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM. A livestream of the service can be viewed at the Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service website. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
