WEST LIBERTY – Steven Scot Fairchild, 66 of West Liberty, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at his residence.
Steve was born Aug. 24, 1958 in Bellefontaine to the late Charles Oliver and Mary Hortense (Gaver) Fairchild. On Feb. 4, 1978, he married Doris McMillen, who preceded him in death on June 30, 1985.
Steve is also preceded in death by his siblings, Patty (Fairchild) Long, David D. Fairchild, Linda (Fairchild) Clark and John C. Fairchild.
Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping; basically he enjoyed the great outdoors. He also enjoyed men's fast pitch, the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Steve loved his role at the West Liberty-Salem Schools, working in the maintenance department for over 9 years. He loved the work but also loved the staff and kids. Steve would commonly say "It's all for the kids." He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to get to know him.
Steve is survived by his daughter, Beth (Chris) Wing; son, Zach (Kim Langford) Fairchild; grandsons, Dylan Wing, Foster Fairchild and Jason Fairchild; step-granddaughter, Paige Wing and many other loving family members.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 11 a.m. at JENNINGS FARLEY & SEELEY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. and again from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery of West Liberty following the service on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Champaign/Clark Pheasants Forever, 7200 Church Road, West Liberty, Ohio 43357.
