Steven Edward Franklin, 77, beloved father and husband, was called to his eternal resting place on July 18, 2024. He was born on June 10, 1947, in Lynchburg, VA, to George and Gloria Franklin. He married his wife of 57 years in June of 1967 and the couple had two children, born and raised in Silver Spring, MD.
Shortly after marrying, Steve was drafted into the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, where he attained the rank of Corporal before returning home. He was to serve in the Marine Corps reserves for the next five years. Once home, Steve went to work at Industrial Photo, a camera store catering to hobby and professional photographers. An experienced and talented professional photographer himself, Steve was known throughout his life as an expert authority in every aspect of the subject. Steve had many hobbies and interests to fill his leisure time; he was an avid cyclist, a licensed amateur ham radio operator, and an accomplished marksman. In the last years of his life, he devoted much of his time and energy as a volunteer for the Wicomico Humane Society.
Steve is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Franklin, his son, Jason Franklin, his daughters-in-law Joanna Franklin and Karissa Sparks, and grandchildren Julia, Gregory, and Garrett.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at 3C USA Church in Delmar, Delaware. For those unable to attend in person, the livestreamed service can be viewed by visiting https://www.youtube.com/live/8SOEJ6jXf64.

I meet Steve at random while working in a shop. He came in and somehow I found out his name was Steve. I said "I can remember that my Dad's name is Steve" that's all it took, I had a friend named Steve. He always struck up a conversation about the animal's (I'm an animal lover) He would show pictures of the dogs and tell me about them with the love and caring they so deserve. He was genuine. My Dad is in Heaven also and I know Steve will strike up a conversation with him. I'm grateful our paths crossed Steve, thank you for your kindness.

I have known Steve since we were in our early teens and attended high school together. We became reacquainted in recent years via Facebook. I have always been impressed by his honesty, sense of humor, caring, and love for family and friends. I will miss him and wish his family well during this sad time. I wish I could have known Judy, too, as from what he told me, she was a very special person.

I met Steve at the shelter when we volunteered together. The dogs loved him and he always talked about his pets. He treated them like gold. We had many laughs at the shelter. I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Steve and Judy. My thoughts go out to his children.
