Steven Gaither Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Russell-McCutchen Funeral Home on Dec. 12, 2025.
Steven Lamont Gaither affectionally known as "Steve" was born on June 19, 1970 to Lawrence Gaither Jr. and Dorothy Banks Gaither as their last bouncing baby boy. He departed this earthly realm on December 12, 2025 peacefully in his sleep under the loving care of his sister Gwen. Steve was educated in the Fairfield County Public School systems. Throughout his life he was an entrepreneur where he owned his small motor repair business.

Steve knew God and was baptized believing Jesus is the Son of God and died for our sins. As many family members will tell you after every conversation, Steve would end it with "Love You."

Often you would see Steve around town on his moped speeding by, waving and smiling. He enjoyed life, family, friends, and did not meet a stranger. Some of his favorite hobbies including playing pool, cards, going fishing, cooking, and fixing things. He even had an affinity for snakes and would not hesitate to catch them and simply say "Look what I caught!" as if this was a normal occurrence! As his precious baby girl, Kalisha became of legal driving age, they would often spend time together and have fun riding out and enjoying a night on the town!

Steve's memory will forever be cherished by his daughter, Kalisha Gaither of Winnsboro S.C., his sister, Gwendolyn (Paul Sr.) Holmes of Winnsboro, S.C.; his brothers Lawrence (Brenda) Gaither III and Lafayette Gaither of Winnsboro, S.C.; four nieces Janice (Eugene)Hopkins of Ridgeway, S.C., Chrishonda (Marvin) Jeter of Winnsboro, S.C., Lashonda (Shawn) Crosby of Carlisle, S.C., and Natasha (Tony) Sumter of Gaston, S.C.; two nephews Paul (Crystal) Holmes Jr. of Greenville, S.C. and Cobin (Nitishia) Holmes of Columbia, S.C.; one uncle, Heyward (Mary Lou) Banks Jr. of Winnsboro S.C.; and two aunts, Helen Washington of Winnsboro, S.C. and Mae Hazel (Willie) Roseborough of Winnsboro, S.C. and other cousins, great nieces, great nephews, and extended family members. Many special thanks to Cousin Carlton Williams.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy & Lawrence Gaither Jr., his brothers Terrance Gaither, Gregory Gaither, Keith Gaither, his maternal grandparents Parrie Nease & Heyward Banks Sr. and paternal grandparents Mattie & Lawrence Gaither Sr.
