Steven Edward Gerber, 89, of Plantsville passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at his home. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was predeceased by his bride and love, Sandy Gerber.
Steven was born on July 7, 1935, and raised in Forest Hills New York. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama. He lived on Long Island until 1981 when he moved to Cheshire and spent the last 17 years in Plantsville. Prior to retirement, Steven was a sales manager and a small business owner. He loved to travel, swim, read, and the beach. He enjoyed helping to babysit his four oldest grandchildren, driving them to activities, and attending their sporting events, concerts, and performances. He was always cheering for the UCONN women’s basketball team and Alabama football. He was the number one fan of Costco.
He is survived by his three children Scott (Heather) Gerber of Hamden, Susan (Jeff) Gudin of Palm Beach Gardens Florida, Stacey (Ray) Esposito of Cheshire; 6 grandchildren, Kent and Sarah Gerber, Rachel and Ethan Esposito, Samantha and Ian Gudin; his sister-in-law Carol Weiss; 2 nieces Michelle (Jonathon) Persons and Jennifer (Daniel) Reif.
Arrangements - Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 12 at 9:30 am at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street. Shiva will be held at the Esposito residence 90 Winding Trail Lane, Cheshire on Wednesday from 4:00 -8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Make A Wish Connecticut at: https://wish.org/ct.
The nightly ceremony in Washington, D.C. will be dedicated in honor of your loved one on the day of your choosing.
