Steven Glantz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery Funeral Home on Feb. 9, 2026.
Steven W. Glantz passed away on February 6, 2026, in Cedar Rapids. Memorial visitation will be held Friday, February 13, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be private.

Steven was born April 21, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, to Warren and Audree (Vliet) Glantz. He spent 35 years working as a District Manager for Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids, a career he took pride in and approached with dedication and integrity.

Steve was a husband, father, grandpa, and friend to all. He never knew a stranger-everyone was greeted with a smile and a handshake. Many of his friends called him "Legend," and that is exactly what he was. He lived his life with respect, honesty, and integrity, and he instilled those same values in his sons, Ben and Mitchell.

The outdoors is where Steve found peace. He loved hunting, fishing, and time spent in nature-chasing ducks, catching crappie, and pursuing long beards alongside his best friends and family. Many share great outdoor memories with "Legend," memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Steve also loved biking and completed several rides, including multiple appearances at TOMRIV and RAGBRAI with his beloved team, Elmo. For many years, he volunteered during the holiday season by ringing bells for the Salvation Army, quietly giving back to his community in a way that meant a great deal to him.

He was married to his wife, Nancy, for 49 years, whom he loved with all his heart. He was devoted to her well-being beyond what many would consider humanly possible. He willingly adapted his life to care for her, and he would have had it no other way. The love he had for Nancy cannot truly be captured in words-it had to be seen to be understood.

Steve was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved sharing his knowledge of the outdoors and spent countless hours hunting and fishing with his family. Many unforgettable memories were made on trips to Andersons, The Land, Canada, and the epic elk trip out West. He was incredibly proud of his boys and was always there to cheer them on and offer his steady, thoughtful advice. As a grandfather, he took great joy in spending time with his grandchildren in nature and enthusiastically supporting them at their activities and events.

Steven is survived by his sons, Benjamin (Carrie) Glantz and Mitchell (Daphne) Glantz; grandchildren, Sam and Claire; sister, Sue (Steve) King; and brother, Jeff (Jane) Glantz.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Glantz; and his parents, Warren and Audree (Vliet) Glantz.
