Steven A. Goins

Steven A. Goins, 71, of Warwick, RI, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, September 7, 2025. He was the beloved husband of 35 years of Diane Newman-Goins.

Born in Saginaw, MI, he was the son of Virginia (Blackstone) Goins Segar of Newport News, VA and the late Jack L. Goins.

Steve graduated from UNC Greensboro in 1980, was employed for 28 years at Allied Signal/Honeywell as a product manager and then for 10 years at First Student, Inc. as a trainer. He enjoyed life - walking daily, biking to Gaspee Point, watching sports, listening to jazz and classic vinyl, fishing, spending time on the coast, and Wednesday nights with the Scout dads.

Steve's greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family and friends. He was a faithful member of Asbury UMC, serving as head usher and on other committees over the years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Amy Goins (Peter Skwirz) of Smithfield, RI, and Gregory Goins of Cranston, RI, his sisters, Valerie Whitfield (Tom) and Gwen Goins of Greensboro, NC, Karen Morgan of Winston-Salem, NC, Judy Anderson (Ed) of Newport News, VA and his grandchildren, Rose and Audrey Skwirz.

His Funeral will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. from the Barrett and Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, RI, with a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. in the Asbury United Methodist Church, 143 Ann Mary Brown Dr., Warwick, RI. Inurnment will follow in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick, RI. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Steven's memory to Asbury UMC would be appreciated.
