Steven Hatcher Obituary

Steven C. Hatcher
Born: February 8, 1959 in Sandwich, IL
Died: August 2, 2025 in Chicago, IL
Steven C. Hatcher, age 66, of Tiskilwa, IL, formerly of Plano, IL, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. He was born on February 8, 1959, in Sandwich, IL, the son of William and Verlee (Klossing) Hatcher.
Steve was united in marriage to Patricia Hill on September 20, 1980, and together they shared 44 happy years. He was the owner and operator of Steve Hatcher Builder for more than 40 years and retired in 2023.
Steve was known for his sharp wit, sense of humor, and love of a good prank or joke-always finding a way to make someone laugh. Beneath all that humor was a big heart. To many, he was affectionately known as Big Johnny-a name that captured both his larger-than-life personality and the warmth he showed to those closest to him.
An avid outdoorsman, Steve never missed a chance for adventure-whether it was hunting bear, mountain lion, deer, elk, or fishing. In addition to his love of building and the outdoors, Steve had a lifelong dream of owning a farm. That dream became a reality and then some, as he raised cattle, pigs, chickens, turkeys, goats, donkeys, and alpacas over the years.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
Steve is survived by his wife, Pat Hatcher of Tiskilwa, IL; his children, Jennifer (Doug) Lyle of Plano, IL, and Robert Hatcher of Cahokia, IL; his grandchildren, Jacob (Taylor) Tumminaro, Hannah Hatcher, Hayden Hatcher, Quinn Lyle, Patricia Grace Lyle, Levi Hatcher, and Hudson Lyle; his brothers, David (Nancy) Hatcher of Sleepy Hollow, IL, and Ken (Cheryl) Hatcher of Decatur, IL; his brother-in-law, Scott (Cheri) Hill; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Verlee Hatcher.
A Celebration of Steve's Life will be held on Steve & Pat's 45th wedding anniversary, September 20th at Harmon Lake in Tiskilwa, IL.
