Steven Heinsch Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 15, 2025.
Steven Charles Heinsch, 72, of New Hope, Minnesota, passed away on October 12, 2025, in St. Louis Park. Born on December 21, 1952, in Minneapolis, Steve lived a life marked by devotion to his faith, a sharp sense of humor, and a hands-on approach to the world around him.
A proud Minnesotan, Steve was a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ, and his faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He was known among those who knew him as a "jack of all trades," someone who could fix, build, or figure out just about anything. His resourcefulness and willingness to lend a hand left a lasting impression on many.
Steve found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved biking and taking road trips, often exploring the beauty of the open road with a spirit of adventure. A dedicated sports fan, he cheered passionately for the Minnesota Vikings, the Wild, and the Gophers, celebrating their victories and enduring their losses with unwavering loyalty.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Heinsch; daughters Heidi Dehmer and Lisa Wright; sons-in-law Chris Dehmer and Kevin Wright; and grandchildren Chase and Megan Teachout and Elizabeth and Christopher Dehmer. Steve's love for his family was evident in the time he spent with them and the memories they created together.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Sarah Heinsch; his parents, Stanley and Violet Heinsch; and his brother Gary Heinsch.
A funeral service to honor Steve's life will be held on October 18, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, in Champlin, Minnesota at Riverway Church 9000 117th Ave N. Visitation will begin one hour prior at 10:00 AM.
Interment will be at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Crystal, Minnesota.
Steve's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort and peace to all who mourn his passing.

Yesterday

This picture of him is the way I always remember him seeing him - baseball cap, a slight head tilt and smile. He was a good man with faith in God and love of his family. I remember the car he built for Sarah when she was about 4 - it was amazing! He knew how to repair or modify wheelchairs and build accessories for them. It sounds like he fought hard this past year, but knowing how devoted he was to Sarah - always watching over her, I truly believe he felt he needed to be with her - and she needed him. I also believe he knew the three of you would take care of each other and he and Sarah will be watching over all of you! He will be with you always in the many, many fond memories you have as a family. All my love, Bonnie Onsum.
