It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Jared Jardine, who died in a tragic car accident on June 21, 2025, while traveling with friends. Although his life was heartbreakingly short-only halfway through 16-Steven lived with a fearless intensity that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Steven had an endless love for the outdoors. He felt most at home on a mountain trail, racing downhill on his bike with a huge grin on his face. He relished powder in the winter on his snowboard and spent every season exploring with a sense of freedom and adventure that inspired everyone around him. Jeep trails, back roads, cliffs, rivers, snowbanks-there wasn't a place too rugged or a challenge too extreme. If it pushed limits, Steven was there.
For all his thrill-seeking and courage, Steven was equally grounded in the love he had for his family. He was loyal and kind. He adored his parents, Jared and Claire Jardine, and had a special, everlasting bond with his brother Everett-his favorite sidekick and best friend. Whether they were riding together or just hanging out, the two of them were almost inseparable.
Steven was able to light up a room-and the outdoors-with his energy. He had a gift for making friends easily. Whether through sports, school, or shared adventures, he built lasting connections everywhere he went. He could make you laugh, make you feel included, and make you want to be a little braver and cooler, just by being himself.
As a student at The Waterford School, Steven excelled in extracurricular activities. He embraced every opportunity that came his way. He loved the people there and thrived in the community, where his humor, tremendous smile, and vibrant spirit left a lasting mark.
Steven was born on December 22, 2008, and from day one, brought joy, smiles, and light into the world. He is survived by his loving parents, Jared and Claire Jardine; his brother and best friend, Everett; grandparents Bart and Janeal Jacobs and Tim and Jennie Burningham; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Steven and Lana Jardine, and his cousin, Steven James Yates.
A celebration of Steven's life will be held on Saturday, June 28th, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Wheeler Farm, 6351 S 900 E, Murray. Please join us in celebrating and remembering this amazing young man. Come when you can, come as you are; we'd love to see you and hear your best Steven story. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Kirkham Tingey's Road to Recovery for Steven's best friend, who was injured in the accident.
