Steven Johnson

Steven Roger Johnson, age 67, passed away on February 8, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society in Atkinson, NE. He has lived there since December 23, 2023, being admitted because of several severe illnesses.

Steven was born January 13, 1959, in the Atkinson Hospital to Roger and Wilma (Weber) Johnson. He was the third child in line and had three sisters. He attended St. Boniface Elementary School from grades 1 through 6, and Stuart Public School grades 7 through 12. He graduated in 1977. Steven went on to attend the University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture for two years and received an associate degree in Commercial Horticulture.

In 1979, after graduating, he went to work for the Nebraska Games and Parks Division in Valentine, NE and worked at a florist part time. He worked there for about a year and a half moving next to Des Moines, IA. Steven went to work at the Hotel Fort Des Moines, setting up for small parties, conventions, and tending bar for private parties. He was very talented, making it home for his youngest sister Jolene's wedding and even doing her wedding flowers out of silk.

Steven then moved to Florida where he worked in restaurants as a chef and sold flowers and arrangements at vendor fairs. He then moved back to Nebraska 2021, living at Elkhorn Meadows until moving into the Atkinson Good Samaritan Center.

Steven is survived by his sisters; Linda (Rod) Anson of Atkinson, Sharon (Tom) Homes of Scribner, and Jolene Emme of O'Neill; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Roger and Wilma Johnson, his grandparents, and a niece Stacy Anson.
