Steven Kiem Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home and Event Center - Du Quoin on Mar. 27, 2025.
Steven Michael Kiem, age 42, of Pinckneyville, a devoted fiancé, father, brother and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
Steven was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on June 12, 1982, and adopted as the son of Esta (Stoneridge) and Donald Kiem. He grew up to become a skilled chef and passionate cook, sharing his love of food with family and friends. Steven's enthusiasm for life was contagious. He loved sports, especially MIZZOU college athletics. He was a sci-fi nerd and an avid gamer and slayer of video games on his X-Box. His adventures took him to Madeira Beach, where he swam with dolphins and cherished time with his best friend and brother, Chad. What defined Steven, however, was his compassion and generosity. He had a gift for listening and offering comfort, making everyone feel seen and heard. His infectious laughter could light up a room. You always knew when you were in Steve's presence. His superpower was contagious laughter, he always had a knack for relating to any issue you were going through and giving you the comfort to overcome it. Steve had a tough upbringing, but he channeled that energy to compassion for others and first class comedy.
Steven is survived by his loving fiancé- Brittany Frazer; four children- Jacob Kiem, Madison Kiem, Harvey Kiem, his daughter- Azriella Kiem, whom he anxiously awaited to be born in five short weeks; brother- Chad Berg; five step-children- Andrea Weston, Ian Graub, Ty Lasater, Zoey Frazer, and Avori Frazer; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends and family members.
He was preceded in death by his daughter- Ava Kiem, father- Donald Kiem, father-in-law-David Kelly, and brother-in-law-Patrick Schimpf.
