Steven Anthony Klingele

Steven A. Klingele, age 73, of Yakima, Washington, passed away unexpectedly on October 24, 2025, due to a heart condition.
Born on February 28, 1952, Steven was the beloved son of Gerald and Joanne Klingele. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald, and is survived by his devoted wife, Paula, with whom he shared 40 wonderful years of marriage, beginning June 1, 1985.
Steven was a proud father to Jason (Shelly) Holmes, Janette Smith, and Joel Klingele. He was also a cherished grandfather to Katie, Aiden, Alex, Brody, and Claire, who brought him immense joy and pride.
He is lovingly remembered by his siblings Dennis (Doreen) Klingele, Gary (Carol) Klingele, Mike (Melissa) Klingele, Victoria (Ron) Urlacher, Glenn (Robyn) Klingele, and Ted (Beth) Klingele.
Steven was known for his kindness, thoughtful spirit, and easygoing nature. Always willing to lend a helping hand, he embodied generosity and quiet strength. A true "Jack of all trades," Steven found joy in fixing and restoring nearly anything, and his curiosity and skill left a lasting mark on those around him. He was also a passionate car enthusiast, finding both solace and excitement in his love for automobiles.
Steven dedicated many years of his career to serving his community through his work at the Yakima Greenway, where he played an instrumental role in directing construction and maintaining the beauty of the area for all to enjoy. He later continued his service with Washington State Parks, working in the maintenance department until his retirement. His care for the land and commitment to preserving it reflected his deep respect for nature and for those who shared it.
A proud veteran, Steven honorably served in the U.S. Army for two years as an instructor at Fort Benning, Georgia. His service and dedication reflected his strong sense of duty and integrity.
Steven will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His warmth, patience, and steadfast love will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 705 S. 38th Ave., on Saturday, November 22, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
