Steven Coy Lafleur, a cherished member of his family and a beloved friend to many, passed away on September 14, 2025, in Lafayette, Louisiana, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on September 16, 1962, in Eunice, Louisiana.
Known for his quiet demeanor, Steven had a warmth about him that drew people in, creating a circle of friends who appreciated his gentle spirit and kindness. His love for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies; he found great joy in camping and hunting, activities that allowed him to connect with nature and share time with friends and family.
Steven cherished the connection he nurtured with Jayden Granger of Lafayette, a special person in his life whom he cared for deeply. He is also survived by his brothers, Raven Lafleur and wife Lela of Eunice, and James Lee Lafleur and wife Jackie of Ville Platte. His sisters include Margretta Bergeron and husband Donald of Basile, Nita Deranger and husband Mike of Basile, and Charlene Gatte and husband Carl of Basile. Additionally, Steven is remembered fondly by numerous nieces and nephews who were blessed to have him in their lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Lee Lafleur and Alberta Bertrand Lafleur, who will always be cherished in his memory. Also welcoming him in eternal rest are his sister Brenda Thibodeaux and her husband L.J. Thibodeaux, his sister Abigail Gartmen, and his brother-in-law Paul Ardoin.
Steven's life was a testament to the simple yet profound joys found in nature and the connections forged with those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and cherished memories that will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who knew him.
A visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home chapel on September 20, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM with a service officiated by Deacon Gary Gaudin at 2:30 PM.
