LaVale, MD – Steven "Steve" Joseph Martin, 73, of LaVale, MD, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023, at his home.
Born January 5, 1950, in Cumberland, MD, Mr. Martin was the son of the late Joseph Levi Martin and Roma Rosanna (Venning) Martin. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Larry Martin.
Steve attended Fort Hill High School. He retired from Laborers Local Union #616, working mainly for Carl Belt. Steve was also a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, Shrine of S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He loved riding his motorcycle and taking care of his family, stepping up as a father figure at the age of 16 to his siblings. Steve was also a loving grandfather to his grandchildren and his granddogs.
Steve is survived by his wife of 54 years, Teresa "Terry" Martin; his daughter: Stephanie Vollmerhausen and husband, Tim; his grandchildren: Sara Vance and husband, Brandon, Sr., Thomas Vollmerhausen, and Tara Vollmerhausen; his great grandson: Brandon "Junior" Vance, Jr.; his sister: Kathy McLain and husband, Darcell; his 2 nieces: Megan Stickles and husband, Chris, and Julie Courson and husband, Jay; as well as several other nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Monday, February 20, 2023, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A wake service will be conducted at 6:30 P.M.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be conducted at Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, Shrine of S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at 11:00 A.M., with Father Greg Chervenak OFM Cap officiating.
Interment will be in S.S. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
