Steven Wayne Marx was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on September 13, 1952 to James Feemster and wife Jacqueline (Kirby) Freemster. After the death of his father, Jacqueline married Harry Marx who later adopted Steve and raised him as his own son. Steve passed away peacefully with Joyce by his side on Saturday, June 7, 2025 and was transported to his heavenly home.
Steve spent his youth in Hurst, Texas and graduated from L. D. Bell High School in 1970. Following graduation he enlisted in the U. S. Navy where he attended Corpsman School for his medical training. He later became an independent duty corpsman. He served in many military bases and ships for over seventeen years. He was discharged from the Navy in 1991 following his service in Desert Storm.
Steve and Joyce met as children and later were married for 43 years. They had three children, Steve Jr, Jeffrey and Angela. Following military service Steve continued his education in pursuit of a medical management career. He worked for Health First and Texas Health for a combined twenty five years. He served as Director of Operations, Clinical Division until his passing.
Steve was a self-taught guitarist beginning in his youth. This talent and love for music led him to blue grass style music where he played for several bands including "No Turning Back", "Lonesome Prairie" and "Paluxy Pickers". Steve and Joyce both enjoyed the Blue Grass family and community for twenty five years together.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and brother.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; sons Steve Jr, and wife Stephanie, Jeff and wife Chase; daughter Angela Marx; Sister Janet Marx and brother in law Willie Nolen; grandchildren Haley Junior and Scarlet Marx, Aunt Louise, nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends.
Steve strummed a beautiful chord in the hearts of all who knew him; it will live on and on.
