"Buddy" Steven Brian McCandless, age 55, went to rest in the arms of God on March 25, 2025, in Ft. Worth, Texas. Born on March 28, 1969, in Lubbock, Texas, Buddy brought warmth and generosity to every corner of his life.
Known for his love for April and boundless kindness and unwavering willingness to help others, Buddy never met a stranger. His presence was a comfort to many-whether it was changing a tire on the side of the road, lending a hand with a broken-down car, or climbing a ladder at 2 a.m. to silence a beeping fire alarm. He was the one people called when they needed help-and he always showed up.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Brown, Owens & Brumley Funeral Home, located at 425 S. Henderson St., Ft. Worth, Texas 76104. A funeral service will follow at the same location from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM.
Preceded in death by his Father, Walter "Don" McCandless; and Mother, Leona "Joyce" Perry; his brother, Donnie Delbert McCandless; and son Michael.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, April Diane McCandless, of Azle; his son in love, Christopher Bauer and wife Kenia, of Ft. Worth, his daughter in love, Carrie Bauer and significant other Alex Farrell. Grandchildren, Ivory, Layla and Chase; with an honorable mention of Josh Bull and wife Morgan of Azle and Mike Soto of Watauga. His brother Wayne Gage of Grand Prairie; sister, Shannon Loya and husband Jerry of Bonham, Chris McCandless of Lubbock, and Cary Saldana of Lubbock, with an honorable mention of Debbie Loya and husband Tim of Grand Prairie. And many, many friends and family.
Buddy's legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through simple acts of kindness and selflessness. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. He will be missed by many.
