Steven "Steve" W. Mistler, 70, of Moscow Mills, MO, formerly of
Troy, MO, passed away from complications of Parkinson's on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at SSM-Lake St. Louis Hospital surrounded by his wife and three girls. He was born March 8, 1954, in Corpus Christi, TX the second son of Bill and Nadine (Boswell) Mistler. Steve and his two brothers and sister spent most of their childhood in Carrollton, MO. He graduated from Central Missouri State University with his Bachelor of Science in Electricity and Electronics-Summa Cum Laude and from Lindenwood University with his Master of Business-Summa Cum Laude. Steve married Joyce Ann (Howard) on August 27, 1977, in Carrollton, MO. He and Joyce were blessed with three daughters: Kelly, Korrie and Lauren. They were the light of his life.
Steve retired from Ameren after almost 30 years of dedicated service, where he played many roles throughout his tenure. After retirement, he proudly worked for McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes and Crematory for many years. Steve was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church-LCMS in
Troy, MO. He served the Lord and congregation in many roles throughout the years; he was an Usher, Elder and President of the congregation. Steve had an amazing voice and sang in the choir for many years. He also served his community through volunteering in the Optimist Club, City Park Board,
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and being a helping hand wherever he was needed.
Steve loved being a PapPaw. He would play with his five grandchildren for hours, making up fun games that made them all giggle. He was at every event cheering them on in sports, recitals and programs. Mostly he took such pride and comfort watching their faith in Christ grow in their respective LCMS churches and schools. Steve was a huge fan of all things' sports. He was a multitalented athlete in his youth and even playing softball at the KC hall. He loved to fish, hunt and help on the farm. When his girls were growing up, he coached them in soccer, softball, golf, basketball. He knew all the St. Louis Cardinals stats, never missed watching a Kansas City Chiefs game or Mizzou play. He will be remembered lovingly by all those who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; three daughters, Kelly Mistler Climer, of Kirkwood, MO; Korrie Ragar (Wyatt), of O'Fallon, MO; and Lauren Mistler, of Kirkwood, MO. Five grandchildren: Landon Climer; Maxwell Ragar; Parker Ragar; Charlie Ragar; and Andi Ragar. His father, Bill; brother, Mike Mistler (Kim) and sister, Patti Mistler. Several nephews and nieces, many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nadine; brother, Gary Mistler and niece, Kim Miller.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 3:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. at McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1304 Boone Street
