With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Barbara Louise Mistler (Repstine) on January 30, 2026. She was born in
Lincoln, Ks on August 5, 1958, and her unexpected loss has left a profound emptiness in the lives of all who loved her.
Barbara lived a life of service to others. She proudly served her country as a United States Navy Medical Specialist Corpsman, a role that reflected her strength, discipline, and compassion early on. She later dedicated her professional career to nursing as a Neuro ICU Registered Nurse, where she cared for patients and families during their most critical moments. Throughout her career, she touched countless lives with her skill, empathy, and calm presence. She retired from Via Christi St. Francis, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and devotion to her calling.
Above all else, Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Her love for her family was unconditional, and she gave of herself selflessly throughout her life. She was known for her strength, her caring heart, and her steady presence for those she loved. To know Barbara was to feel supported, comforted, and deeply cared for.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Harold Eugene Mistler; her children, Jamie Mistler, Jason (Katie) Mistler, Ryan (Krista) Cook, and Miranda (Wayne) Schoonover Jr.; and her cherished grandchildren, Jaden Shoemaker, Janaya Espada, Danilyn Cook, Parker Cook, Aliauna Cook, Jetyn Cook, Johnathan Mistler, Emily Mistler, MacKenzie Mistler, Wayne (Buck) Schoonover III, and Wyatt Schoonover.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Violet Repstine (Scott); her father, Marvin Robert Repstine; and her brother, Marvin (Bud) Repstine.
Barbara's life was defined by service, love, and unwavering dedication to others. Though her passing was sudden and heartbreaking, the impact she made-both personally and professionally-will never be forgotten.
Funeral services with military honors will be held on Thursday, February 5th, 2026, at Carlson Funeral Home. Barbara will be laid to rest at Camp Creek Cemetery in Cummings, Kansas, immediately following.
