Steven Padgett Obituary

Steven Craig Padgett

May 8, 1966 – January 22, 2026

Call the dogs and tend the fire - Steve has gone Home for the last time.

Steve was loud- not just the motorcycles, not just the music, but him. You could hear him coming before you saw him.

Born Steven Craig Padgett on May 8, 1966, to Connie and Carole Padgett, Steve grew up running wild through the streets of Kansas City, Kansas, giving the Padgett name a run for its money. He carried that name like both a badge and a warning.

Steve had a deep love for loud motorcycles and loud music, for the open road, and for moments that made him feel free. He loved making people laugh, and when he laughed, it came from somewhere real and unguarded.

The bike and the road were his church and his escape.

He once rode 1,000 miles in a single day, an Iron Butt ride, just because he could. Wind, noise, miles behind him and miles still ahead- that's where he felt most like himself.

He loved a good time, a smoke, and an inappropriate joke.

He was stubborn, charming, and unmistakably Steve.

Steve didn't live a simple life or take an easy path. There were years of closeness and years of distance, but he was always fully himself, for better and for worse.

He is survived by his daughter, Stevie Ricks; his brother, Robby; his life partner, Edwina; and her daughter, Lila, who Steve loved as his own. He was preceded in death by his parents, Connie and Carole Padgett. We like to imagine him now, reunited with his father, back at the pool table, sharing laughter and stories the way only they could. What a long, strange trip it has been.
