Steven Prince Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Vansant-Mills Funeral Home - Clinton on Mar. 31, 2026.
Steven Madison Prince, age 75, of Clinton, Missouri passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026 at Lee Summit East in Lees Summit, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday April 3, 2026 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service. Steven "Steve" Madison Prince, born November 22, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on March 30, 2026 surrounded by family and love. He was the son of Gilbert Lonnie and Odessa "Betty" Prince and the younger brother of Lonnie Prince, all of whom preceded him in death.

Steve graduated from Parkville High School in 1968 and went on to attend college in Maryville, Missouri. From an early age, he was drawn to adventure and lived life with a fearless, competitive spirit.

An avid outdoorsman, Steve thrived on adrenaline and competition. He loved slalom snow skiing, motocross, car racing, water skiing, and softball-where he met Ellen Victoria "Vicky" Prince. The two were married in 1982 in Branson, Missouri, and together they built a life centered around family. They welcomed two daughters, Stephanie Allison Prince and Emily Victoria Prince. Vicky preceded him in death in 2003 after 21 years of marriage.

Steve's greatest passion was tournament bass fishing. He was not only a skilled angler but also an entrepreneur, owning and operating Strike Zone, a company that custom-made fishing lures. Over the years, Steve won numerous bass fishing tournaments, often alongside his close friend and fishing partner, Chris Bridges.

In 2004, Steve met Sarah, and the two were married on July 16, 2005. Together, they built a beautiful blended family of six children and shared 20 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and partnership.

Steve is survived by his wife, Sarah Prince; his daughters, Stephanie Engelhart (Eric) and Emily Kubilus (Lenny), both of Clinton, Missouri; and his bonus children, Mindy Rubelmann (Jeff) of St. Louis, Missouri, Jared Morgan (Ashley) of St. Petersburg, Florida, Lynny Taylor (Mike) of Clinton, Missouri, and Brandon Morgan (Michelle) of St. Petersburg, Florida.

He was a proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren: Morgan and Jack Rubelmann; Izaac and Hazel Morgan; Sophie and Saryn Taylor; Ellie and Reagan Bettencourt; Lane and Stella Kubilus; and Lincoln and Finnley Morgan.

Steve will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his love of the outdoors, his competitive drive, and, most of all, his deep love for his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, both on and off the water.
