Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jackman Funeral Home - Douglas on Mar. 31, 2026.
Douglas- Rita E. (Fortin) Prince, 86, of Ridge Trail passed away peacefully at Life Care Center of Auburn on Saturday, March 28, 2026. Her husband of 41 years Stephen G. Prince Jr. died August 1, 1999.

She is survived by her six children Gary Prince and his wife Lucille of Douglas, Donna Prochnow and her husband Gene of Oxford, Debbie Oullette and her husband Peter of Webster, Stephen Prince of Douglas with whom she lived, Paul Prince and his wife Debbie of Lehigh Acres, Florida, and Arthur Prince and his wife Lisa of Webster. She was a proud "Meme" to seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, and was sister of the late Estelle Halsdorff who passed January 18, 2020.

Rita was born in Worcester on October 17, 1939, the daughter of Arthur J. and Bertha O. (Stebbins) Fortin and lived on the Reservoir in Douglas 41 years. She was a graduate of Commerce High School Class of 1958

Rita was an attentive homemaker for most of her life - loving and caring for her husband, children and their families. She especially enjoyed weekend cookouts at her home on the lake spending quality time with her family and friends, traveling to near and far away destinations with her late husband Steve, and vacationing with her children. Family was everything to her and she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her and the many lives she touched with her warm and cheerful spirit.

The Prince family would like to acknowledge the staff of the Life Care Center of Auburn for the thoughtful, dedicated, and compassionate care they provided to Rita during her 5-year stay. Our family is truly grateful to each and every one of you!

Calling hours will be held in Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St., Douglas, on Monday, April 6th, from 5 to 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7th, at St. Denis Church, 23 Manchaug St., Douglas, followed by a reception in the church hall. Burial will take place at Hope Cemetery in Worcester at 1 p.m., following the luncheon.
