Steven Ramos Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 10, 2025.
Steven Charles Ramos, age 64, of LaGrange Highlands passed away peacefully at home on August 25th surrounded by his wife, kids, and adoring pets. Devoted husband of 16 years to Kimberly Ramos, loving father of Michael (Hallie), Rachel (Jacob) Arlowe, Alexander Meyer, and Nicholas (Kim) Meyer, and cherished son-in-law of Ron Kruczynski Sr. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Van, mother-in-law, Gloria, and sister, Kathy. He leaves behind so many who love and care for him including a close knit family full of beloved siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends who had become family.
Throughout his life, Steve loved nothing more than spending time with that large group of family and friends. Whether he was cheering on one of his beloved Chicago sports teams with his kids, hosting Christmas Eve for the whole family, or heading out on his next vacation with his adoring wife, Steve was always ready to have some fun with the people he loved. The kitchen was his domain and he loved cooking up big meals for anyone who was hungry, so long as you didn't get in the way of his tried and true cooking routine by trying to "help." A lifelong Chicago sports fan, Steve did the unthinkable as a born and raised Chicago White Sox fan by becoming a late in life Cubs fan once their 108 year losing streak came to an end. When he wasn't able to go see games in person, a common and loved activity for Steve, you could always find him cheering on his teams from home proudly sporting the corresponding team's hat or jersey.
While Steve had a fulfilling and successful professional life, his real success was in the life he built outside of work. He valued a life well lived full of travel, adventures, new experiences, and creating paradise in his own backyard. Steve and Kim spent much of their time with their fur babies enjoying the fruits of their labor on their idyllic back patio, soaking in their hot tub, or swimming in their pool surrounded by the colorful plants and flowers that Steve planted and tended to in the warm months. In the winter time, Steve especially loved Christmas and cherished the many traditions that came along with it. He looked forward to gathering the whole family on Christmas Eve to celebrate together, always wearing his famous top hat and festive red plaid vest.
Steve's boisterous personality and zest for life will be missed by all who knew and loved him, but will live on through his wife, kids, family, and friends and the memories and traditions they created together. As the late Jimmy Buffet said, and Steve agreed, "Some of its magic. Some of its tragic. But I had a good life all the way."
We'd love for you to join us in celebrating Steve's life on Thursday, October 16, from 5–8 PM at Mattone Restaurant (9 E 31st Street, LaGrange Park, IL 60526). Come as you are, stay as long as you'd like, and help us honor his memory with love, laughter, and good company.
