Steven Roberge Obituary Steven Francis Roberge, known fondly by all as Steve, was a man who lived a life of integrity, determination, and humor. He took his final bow and left the stage of life on May 5, 2025, after 73 years filled with joy and meaning. Born on July 31, 1951, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Steve built a life as multifaceted and memorable as the man himself. He passed away peacefully following a stroke, surrounded by his family, who sent him off with love, gratitude, and forever-cherished memories.
Family was at the heart of Steves life, where love and teasing always went hand in hand. His amazing wife, Janice "Govero" Roberge, held the title of his best friend and favorite heckler. His daughters, Paula Moore and Gena Roberge, inherited his sense of humor, competitive spirit, and love for family. His sister, Pam Cruz, never let him forget she was the original funny one in the family. His grandkids, Madeline and Chloe Moore, and Teddy Roberge, were his favorite audience, always eager for his teasing, games, and silly antics. He was also a beloved uncle to a larger crew of nieces and nephews, each holding their own cherished collection of "classic Steve" stories.
Steve proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1971 to 1975 as a communication specialist, stationed in San Vito, Italywhere he met his wife, Jan, who was also serving at the timeand later at Offutt AFB in Bellevue, Nebraska. After his service, he worked as a systems program analyst manager with FiServ. For 25 years, Steve was a tough boss with high standards and a deep love for programming. While he challenged his team, he valued the friendships he built and cherished the time spent with his coworkers. He was also a proud lifetime member of the American Legion, continuing his commitment to service and camaraderie.
Between birdies and bogeys, Steves love for golf was as steady as his swing. In retirement, you could find him either grumbling about his score or turning pickleball matches with Jan into spirited battles for bragging rights. He shared his fathers passion for gardening, nurturing his plants with the same care he put into creating unique dishes at home. Whether in the garden or the kitchen, Steve found joy in growing, building, and sharing something meaningful.
Resourceful and inventive, Steve kept his tools neatly organized across his many tool sheds, always ready to tackle a project. Calling him "handy" doesnt quite capture ithe could fix, build, or MacGyver just about anything with a few tools and a whole lot of imagination. He was generous and thoughtful, making meaningful connections through his acts of service: donating for many years to Save the Children and St. Jude, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, and helping at the St. Franciscan Festival in Bellevue, raising money for missionaries. He had a quiet but steadfast calling to help others.
To recount all of Steves stories would be like trying to count the starseach one shining with his unique humor and warmth. From his quirky creations to his unexpected one-liners at family dinners, Steve brought a lightness that made the ordinary feel special. His life was a blend of laughter, love, and loyaltya testament to his deep care for family, country, and a good chuckle.
While well miss his laughter, steadiness, unique outlook, and that familiar twinkle in his eye, the memories of Steven Francis Roberge remain a treasure trove of joy and comfort.
