Steven Patrick Roche, Sr.



With heavy hearts but unwavering faith, we announce the passing of Steven Patrick Roche, Sr. on January 23, 2024, following his courageous 13-year battle with Leukemia followed by Myelodysplastic Syndrome.

Steve was born to Clarine and Patrick Roche on September 29, 1952, in Lamar, Colorado. In 1960 his family settled in Albuquerque. He attended Mitchell Elementary and Madison Junior High where he met the love of his life, Alice. He excelled in football and baseball at Sandia High School graduating in 1970. After graduating from Fort Lewis College in 1974, he earned his Juris Doctorate from UNM Law School in 1978. Steve started Tecumseh Professional Associates in 1991 and was the owner/CEO until his retirement 12 years ago. During this time he earned several awards as an 8(a) company. When he wasn't working, Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, reading, playing golf, and baseball. He was a successful coach at Roadrunner Little League, playing an influential role in the lives of many young men. His family was his greatest joy, especially his grandchildren, and his legacy lives on through the strong foundation of faith he instilled in each of them.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Alice McClelland Roche, and his loving family, son, Steven Patrick Roche, Jr. and wife Tamara, daughter Melissa and husband Adam Pool, grandchildren Sydney and CJ Pool, Daylan, Aliza and Aria, sister Janice Quillen, brother Rick Roche and wife Pauline.

His family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated team of doctors at City of Hope National Medical Center, especially Stephen Forman, M.D. and Michelle Leon, P.A., and those at Presbyterian Rust Medical Center. Their tireless efforts and genuine concern for Steve will always be remembered with deep appreciation.

A memorial service followed by a reception will be held at Hoffmantown Church on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Discover the Book Ministries (dtbm.org), reflecting Steve's commitment to sharing the Gospel with others.

As we mourn the loss of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, we find solace in knowing that Steve is at peace in the presence of his Savior.
