Mathew Roach Obituary
Mathew J. Roach, 88, passed away March 14, 2026, in Bayfield, Colorado. He was born August 9, 1937, in McCamey, Texas.
Roach married Peggy G. Rhoden Roach on October 13, 1956, in Amarillo, Texas. They later moved to Albuquerque where he spent nearly 50 years working at Sandia National Laboratories and after retirement at Valcom in Albuquerque. Roach was a true patriot and loved his country.
Roach enjoyed hunting, fishing, coaching youth football and baseball, and supporting Eldorado High School football and UNM Lobos Girls Basketball athletics.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy G. Rhoden Roach; children, Mathew J. (Jay) Roach Jr. (Susanna Hoffs), Richard L. Roach (Denise Birkholz), Clark A. Roach (Pam Mikel), Kimberly K. Roach McElwee; grandchildren, Justin T. Dickey, Marshall L. Roach (Bethany), Kaelin Roach Nance (Ben), Jackson W. Roach, Sam R. Roach, Amy A. Roach, Cody W. Roach (Starr), Ainsley C. McElwee, Alexandra J. McElwee; great-grandchildren, Wilder Roach, Verona Roach, Hazel Nance, Estella Roach.
Preceded in death by grandson, Aaron S. Dickey.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2026, at French Funerals and Cremations, located at 7121 Wyoming Blvd., Albuquerque. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m
