Steven J. Salz, 55, of Hudson, IL, passed away on August 17, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
He was born April 17, 1969, in Streator, IL, to James and Linda (Zimmer) Salz. He married Danielle Zulz on November 16, 1991, in Wenona, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Kyle Salz of Dillon, CO and Kalin (Haley) Salz of Minonk, IL; one daughter, Kennedi (Bailey Real) Salz of Henry, IL; three sisters, Kim (Bill) Puetz of Leonore, IL, Tanya Hoffmann of Peru, IL, Nikki (Mike Bird) Hoffmann of LaSalle, IL; his mother, Linda (Mike Joerger) Hoffmann of LaSalle, IL; and one granddaughter on the way.
He was preceded in death by his father, James; one sister, Tami Salz; and his grandparents, Arnold and Helen Salz.
Steve, known to many as Guido or Stevie, cherished his family above all, relishing the time spent with his wife and children. His infectious laughter and knack for storytelling brought joy to those around him, and he had a remarkable ability to brighten any room with his humor. As a lifelong farmer, Steve embraced hard work with unwavering dedication and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He took immense pride in showing and raising champion pigs, a passion that he loved. A devoted music lover, he filled the air with his favorite tunes wherever he went. His stubbornness was well-known, but it was always tempered by a heart of gold, making him a cherished friend, caring husband, and exceptional dad.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Eastview Christian Church in Normal, IL. Visitation will be from 9 am to 11 am, Saturday, prior to services at the church. Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Minonk, IL is assisting the family with arrangements. Cremation will be accorded after the services.
In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the family or Marshall/Putnam County Fair Swine Department. Tributes and condolences may be made to www.ruestmanharrisfuneralhome.com.
