Steven P. Schuetze

1945 - 2025

With full hearts and fond memories, we celebrate the life of Steven Paul Schuetze, who passed away at home in Lindstrom, Minnesota, on August 24, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 79 years young.

Born in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, Steve was the youngest of six children to George and Lola Mae (Henderson) Schuetze. He grew up in Morris, where he graduated from Morris High School before going on to earn degrees from the North Dakota State School of Science and Alexandria Technical School for Law Enforcement in 1968.

Steve lived a life of service, integrity, and good humor. He proudly served two terms in the United States Army-first overseas in Germany as an Administrative Clerk. He continued his commitment to public service as a Deputy Sheriff in Morrison County, and later re-enlisted stateside at Fort Rucker, Alabama, as a Special Agent in Military Intelligence. Later, he brought his steady hands and warm smile to the U.S. Postal Service in Fridley, Minnesota, where he worked until his retirement in 2001.

Steve was a man of many titles-veteran, officer, postman-but his favorite roles were husband, dad, father-in-law, grandpa, and friend. He was the life of every gathering, always ready with a joke, a story, or a game. Whether it was bingo, poker, pull-tabs, dice, Jenga, or puzzles, Steve played to win-and to laugh. His sense of humor was legendary, and his mischief was contagious.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings: Dolores (Alden) Steenblock, Ramona (Harold) Murray, Floyd, Lowell, and Rita (Denny) Ehrens.

Steve leaves behind his loving wife of nearly 55 years, Mary Jo (McConn) Schuetze, and their two daughters and families: Julie and Craig Walker, with sons Jack and Will; and Jackie and Dan Carpenter, with daughter Gracey Jo. He is also survived by many cherished in-laws, special nieces and nephews, and extended family who will forever carry his stories and spirit forward.

Steve's legacy is one of laughter, loyalty, and love. He taught us to serve with pride, to laugh often, and to never turn down a good game night. His memory will live on in every shared joke, every family gathering, and every puzzle piece placed just right.

Rest easy, Steve. You played the game of life with heart-and you won.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 13, 2025 at St. Bridget of Sweden Catholic Church, 13060 Lake Blvd., Lindstrom, Minnesota 55045. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to mass. Interment with military honors at Fairview Cemetery, Lindstrom, Minnesota. Mass will be recorded for those who cannot attend.
