Steven Arthur Schuster, born September 30, 1944, passed away on January 16th following a long struggle with Dementia. Steven did not journey alone in that he was always surrounded by and supported by his loving family. His journey ended with Roz, his loving wife of 52 years and family by his side.

Steven was known for his love for family and the Colchester Community. He was active in his synagogue, a fervent supporter of the Colchester Fire Department, the Colchester Police Department and statewide politics. He had his opinions and was relentless in sharing them, whether vocally or in his many letters to the appropriate audience.

Steven was a member of the Army National Guard and always appreciated the fact that the Army supported his love of flying and he readily accepted the challenge of becoming a helicopter pilot while at Fort Rucker, Alabama. He later earned his pilots license for small aircraft and traveled with Roz as his lookout only to learn that she would immediately fall asleep once in the air.

The highlight of Steven’s professional career was his many years with Schuster Express where he was the Vice President of Maintenance and Equipment. He often shared his immense appreciation for the talented mechanics and dedicated drivers who always took pride in a job well done.

Steven is predeceased by his parents Paul and Phyllis Schuster and brother Richard. He is survived by his wife Roz, his brother Mark, and his three sons, Damon (Grace), Gregg (Faith) and Adam (Mikaela) Schuster and grandchildren Skylar, Leah, Brett, Devin, and Breanna.

The funeral will take place Monday, January 19th at 11:00AM at the Ahavath Achim Synagogue on 84 Lebanon Avenue, Colchester. Graveside services will follow directly followed by brunch at the synagogue. We look forward to you joining us to bid your farewell to Steven, a proud Colchester resident, husband, father, and your friend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ahavath Achim Synagogue or the Colchester Hayward Volunteer Fire Company.
