Steve M. Sheerer, a beloved husband, son, father, and brother, passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones at Ocean University Medical Center in Brick, NJ on October 19.
Born to parents Judith and Douglas Sheerer in 1964 at St. Mary's Hospital in Hoboken NJ, he attended grade school at Ana L Klein in Gutenberg NJ and went on to graduate from Toms River East High School in 1982. Steve had a passion for sports and grew up playing baseball, football and bowling competitively throughout his high school years. He was always known for his work ethic and can-do attitude; he held various jobs before starting his 25-year career at the United State Postal Service.
Steve moved with kindness, compassion and humility and would never hesitate to give the shirt off his back to help someone. He has touched so many lives and was most importantly known to be the life (and loudest) of the party. Whether it was a concert, sporting event or family gathering, you could hear his distinct laugh bellow through the crowd and you knew Steve was there having the best time ever. Steve enjoyed cooking, fishing, rocking out to the radio, watching football and sharing stories with the greatest enthusiasm. There was never a dull moment when you were in his presence and his legacy will live on forever.
He is predeceased by his father Douglas (Duke) Sheerer and his brother, Douglas Sheerer Jr. He is survived by his adoring wife of 33 years Michele; his three children, Steven, Lyndsey and Kelsey Sheerer; his loving mother Judy Sheerer; his sister Kelly Salerno; mother-in-law Patricia Ayotte, his god parents Jackie and Ernie Ciongoli; god-son Sean Conroy and many brother and sister in laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-8pm on Wednesday October 25 at Carmona Bolen Home for Funerals (412 Main St Toms River 08753) Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.carmonabolenfh.com. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your local animal shelter
The family requests that guests who plan on attending to dress in your favorite sports or casual attire for the viewing. Steve's favorite teams were the New York Yankees, Washington Redskins and Colorado Rockies.

My favorite memory of Steve is when we were having our annual Christmas party at my house and Joe (who did not partake in the festivities by choice) was eating a crab cake dinner in the kitchen that I had made for him and Steve came over to him and asked what he was eating and proceeded to take a forkful of Joe´s dinner. Well everyone who knew Joe knew he didn´t share his food, (although he would give you the shirt off his back just not his dinner). So needless to say he told Steve to back off that it was his lunch for the week. Of course Steve with his innocent laughter just laughed it off and continued to try his crab. It was a classic Steve move and will forever be a funny memory when we have our annual parties. I hope Joe is finally sharing his food with you up there Steve!

I had the pleasure of meeting Steve only once at an afternoon lunch gathering and it was as if we had known each other for years. So kind, caring with a few jokes which runs in the family. Truly Grateful for that moment shared with you Steve TRULY. My condolences to the entire Family
