Steven A. “Steve” Siss, 78, passed away on January 19, 2026. He was born on December 31, 1947, in Paterson, New Jersey, to Albert Edmund Siss and Irene Catherine Stibritz.
Steve was a proud third-generation baker who began his working life at the family’s German bakery, Siss’ Cake Box in Wyckoff, New Jersey, where he started as a talented cake decorator. His creativity, precision, and strong work ethic later carried him into a successful career in the two-way radio industry in Lodi, New Jersey. In 2009, Steve relocated from West Milford, New Jersey, to Florida, where he enjoyed a new chapter of life.
A lifelong enthusiast of space and science, Steve was a devoted fan of Star Trek, NASA, and space exploration. He delighted in watching rocket launches, especially SpaceX missions, and shared his love of astronomy with his daughter Meredith. He also treasured watching Formula 1 racing with his daughter Heather. Steve enjoyed traveling with his family, tinkering with projects, and taking trips with his lifelong friends, Eileen and Bob.
Steve had a great sense of humor and was known as a loving and devoted father who put his heart into everything he did. He was a dedicated provider who took pride in caring for his family. He shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Chip, who was a constant companion.
Steve was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn Siss, and his son, Matthew Siss.
He is survived by his daughters, Heather (Todd) Gill of Bellingham, Washington, and Meredith Siss (Nick Huggins) of Loveland, Colorado. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his memory will continue to live on in the stories, laughter, and passions he shared with his family and friends.
