COURTESY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE SMITH FAMILY
Steven Eric Smith, age 38, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, January 14, 2024. He is a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and many more titles to his extended family. He was also a beloved teacher. Steven loved the Lord and served him faithfully through a long battle with cancer. He was a member of Pilgrim Church in Winchester, KY, and was a shining example of God's grace and love to those around him.
Steven was born on September 24, 1985, in Galax, VA to Mitchell and Jeanette Smith. He was married to Lindsay (Clark) on July 18, 2008 in Lexington, KY and resided with his wife and children in Winchester, KY.
Steven is survived by his wife, Lindsay; children, Carson (12), Kennedy (8), and Caiden (5); parents, Mitchell and Jeanette Smith of Galax, VA; sister and brother-in-law, Kendra and Dustin Muir; sister, Kari Smith; grandfather, John Wayne Smith of Galax, VA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Pat and Joyce Clark of Winchester, KY; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ryan and Maria Clark; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 16 from 5:00-7:00 PM and a service will be on Wednesday, January 17, at 1:00 PM at Leon Pace Memorial Chapel in Winchester, KY, next to Scobee Funeral Home, with Pastors Paul Bates and David Spivey officiating. Burial will follow in the Winchester Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan Clark, Dustin Muir, Paul Stephen Bates, Stanley Rice, Jordan Rice, Ben Davis, Mike Hamilton, Bobby Rice, and Josh Mounts. A memorial service will also be held in Galax, VA at Haven of Rest Bible Church on Saturday, January 20, at 2:00 PM. Family will receive visitors at 1:00 PM.
Memorial flowers may be sent to Leon Pace Memorial Chapel, or monetary donations for Lindsay and her children may be sent to the Clark address, 2450 Miller Hunt Road, Winchester, KY. 40391. The family appreciates the love and prayers of family and friends during this time.
