Steven B. Smith, 62, of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
He was born on April 13, 1963 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Marvin R. Smith and Marilyn L. (Harris) Smith.
Steve was united in marriage to Suzanne C. Rorick on September 19, 1987.
He was a faithful member of St. Louis Catholic Church – Besancon. He was the owner operator of Smith Builders, Inc. for 37 years.
Steve created custom built homes, additions, and a variety of building services for many people in the area. He was dependable and took pride in his work and family. People were important to him, and he had a close circle of friends that he shared his time with. His family was the most important to him, and his granddaughters were the sunshine and delight of his life. He enjoyed the outdoors, four-wheeling, and the many vacations with family and friends to Michigan.
Survivors include his wife, Suzy Smith of Monroeville, Indiana; son, Hank (Melissa) Smith of Monroeville, Indiana; daughter, Molly (Adam Gwilliam) Smith of Galway, Co Galway Ireland; son, Sam Smith of New Haven, Indiana; three granddaughters, Charlotte, Millie, and Cecelia Smith; mother, Marilyn Smith of Fort Wayne, Indiana; brother, Mike (Linda) Smith of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister, Kathy (Tad) Biddle of New Haven, Indiana; and brother, Marc (Lori) Smith of New Haven, Indiana.
A Memorial Mass of Christian burial for Steve will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon, with Father Tyrell Alles officiating. Burial will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Besancon.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Masses, St. Louis Academy, or Donor’s Choice.
