Steven Raymond Soares of East Falmouth died peacefully after a long illness on February 21, 2022. Born in Wareham, he was raised and lived most of his life in Falmouth. He was 70 years old.
He was the son of the late George and Lydia (DeMello) Soares. He was the brother of the late George Soares. He is survived by his daughter Lindsay Soares of Falmouth and his son Jonathan Soares and his partner Zachary Ehling of Plymouth. He was married to Charlene Soares of Falmouth for 36 years. He had one grandson, Vincent Soares of Falmouth. He is also survived by many cousins.
Steven graduated from Lawrence High School in Falmouth in 1969. He was a veteran serving as a Marine during the Vietnam war era. He worked several years for the Falmouth Fire Dept in the alarms division. He worked as an electrician for much of his life having started his own small electrician business before he retired.
He enjoyed riding his bike, karate and playing cards. He was a member of the Free Masons in Falmouth for a number of years. He was a proud Red Sox and Patriots fan. In his later years Steven was a mentor to a number of people struggling with addiction and he will be missed by many in the AA community.
Visiting hours will be Monday February 28, 2022 from 5-7pm at Chapman Funeral and Cremations 475 Main Street Falmouth MA. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday March 1, at 11:00 at St. Anthony's Church 167 East Falmouth Highway Route 28 East Falmouth. Burial will follow the Mass in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:30pm
