Steven Steele Obituary

Port St. Lucie, Fla. - Steven Steele Sr., a loving husband, devoted father and cherished friend, passed away in Port St. Lucie, Fla., May 9, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. Steven was born Sept. 14, 1961, in New London, where his journey of life and love began.

Steven was a lifelong resident of East Lyme, where he built lasting connections within the community. In 2015, he embarked on a new chapter in his life, fulfilling his lifelong dream of living near the water and basking in the sunshine as he retired to Florida.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother Mary Ann Smith; his father Ronnie Steele Sr.; and his loving stepfather Wesley Smith. Steven's love story with his beloved wife Lori Steele, was one of unwavering commitment. They were married in 1983, and they shared 40 years of love, support and companionship. Their bond was a beacon of strength as they stood by each other's side during life's joys and challenges.

Steven's professional journey was as diverse as his interests and talents. Steven graduated from East Lyme High School in 1980, and soon after, graduated from culinary school. He then embarked on a culinary adventure, honing his skills in multiple restaurants. Later, he transitioned to the field of electrical work, bringing his meticulous attention to detail and problem-solving abilities to his role at Eversource. Steven's dedication and hard work were evident throughout his career, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

Outside of work, Steven found his greatest joy in his role as a father. He was a guiding light and source of strength to his two sons, Steven Steele Jr. and Ryan Steele. Ryan's journey led him to find love and build a family of his own with Kathleen Steele, whom Steven welcomed into his heart as a daughter. Together, they blessed Steven with the joy of grandparenthood, as Madeline and Christopher Steele brought laughter and love into his life. Steven is also survived by his siblings, Ronnie Steele Jr. (Laurie), Joseph Steele (Judy) and Anita Risner (Ed). He also leaves behind a multitude of nieces and nephews whom he adored dearly. His presence will be profoundly missed by all.

Steven's legacy of love, hard work, and dedication will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us in our own journeys. Services to be held at a later date.

I worked with Steve at Millstone in the 90's. A great guy to have the pleasure to have known and shared many job site laughs with. My sincere condolences to the family and the friends who were involved with his wit and constant smiles, even on the tough jobs we all endured in the Nuclear industry. P. J. Brennan

We met Steve and Lori at camp. A place we all enjoyed, the moon light nights and the sun glistening on the lake. Entertaining our Families, boating and playing horseshoes. A place where friends are family. We hold these memories in our hearts. Rest in peace our good friend.

Dear Lori and family. I´ve know Steven since grade school. I am so sorry to see he has passed away. He was a beautiful light among those who knew him. Funny, he popped into my head the other day, perhaps to say good bye. But, the thought of him brought a smile to my face. Blessings to you all as you navigate through your grief. Hold his memories close to your hearts as they will get you through.
