Steven "Steve" E. Tarter, 66, passed away on March 9, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
Steve was born on May 22, 1956, in Cambridgeshire, England. Growing up in a military family, Steve lived in many places but, eventually, settled in Witchita Falls, Texas where he graduated high school. Steve moved to Lafayette, Louisiana in the late 1970s where he met his wife, Connie, and began his career in the oil and gas industry. He was grateful for the opportunity his work brought him to travel to several countries where he was able to experience different cultures and meet many friends. Steve retired after 30 years and enjoyed music, art, photography, and spending time with his family, most of all his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Winiford Tarter, his mother, Joan Roberts Tarter. and his grandson Clark Decell. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 41 years, Connie Olivier Tarter, his daughter, Melissa Decell and husband, Ryan, his grandchildren Olivia, Emerie, and Everett; his brother, Glenn Tarter and his wife Beth and their children; and his sister, Karen Blanchard and her children.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Richard Fei and Audubon Hospice for the excellent care they provided him over the years.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
