Steven A. Vass, a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on May 2, 2025, in Temple, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 6, 1981, Steven dedicated much of his life to being a steadfast and compassionate presence for those around him.
For many years, Steven served as a Captain Correctional Officer at the Gatesville Correctional Facility, where he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and inmates alike for his integrity and dedication. His commitment to his career was paralleled only by his deep devotion to his family. Steven embraced every moment spent with his wife, Manuela, and their two daughters, Jacqueline and Aahlya, cherishing the laughter and joy they shared.
Those close to him will fondly remember his vibrant personality and the way he brought life to every gathering. With a passion for gaming, he often spent hours immersed in new worlds, and his love for movies was evident as he could easily quote every line from his favorites. A good book in hand, he loved devising countless adventures within the pages, sharing stories with family in cozy corners of their home.
Steven leaves behind a family that will forever hold him close in their hearts. He is survived by his beloved wife, Manuela Vass; his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Green; his two precious daughters, Jackie and Aahlya Vass; and three supportive sisters, Nadine Gardner, Sabrina Green, and Stephane Alexander. His legacy will also live on through his two nephews, Rolando Retana and Arturo Retana, and his niece, Lesley Retana, each of whom he cherished deeply.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Alexandera Kochle, whose memory will remain in the hearts of those who loved her. Steven’s spirit will undoubtedly continue to resonate, reminding all who knew him of the importance of family, love, and the myriad joys of life.
