In accordance with his wishes cremation will take place and family remembrances will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation, c/o the funeral home.
Age 68, of Kalamazoo, passed away at his home on February 21, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Steven was born in Lancaster, PA, the son of the late Albert and Doris (Eckman) Ward. Steve was a loving husband, father, brother and friend. He loved sports, excelled at football in his youth and stayed active throughout his life. He made fond memories of family trips to South Haven to swim and enjoy the beach; the colder the water, the more Steve liked it also enjoyed spending time in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania. He was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Boston Celtics and when not watching them enjoyed catching a movie or two. He worked hard to provide for his family and retired from the Dana Corporation after more than thirty years of service. He had a strong faith and attended Valley Family Church where his smile and warmth will be missed on Sunday mornings. Steven was most proud of his children, and he leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived. On May 18, 1985, he married the love of his life, Penny J. (Caldwell) Ward who survives. He is also survived by three children, Kim (Cobhan) Huff, Kevin Ward and Kody Ward; siblings, Stan (Joyce) Ward and Wes (Stacey) Ward; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
